Welcome to Mrs. Levine's Fabulous fourth grade website
Conversation Starters
Have you ever heard your fourth grader answer, "Nothing," in response to your questions about what he/she is doing in school? This section is intended to give you some specific questions to ask so you can elicit an answer with more detail that, "Nothing". 1. Richard Guerry, renowned internet safety expert, spoke to the students recently about internet safety. He discussed ways to remain anonymous, but enjoy all the internet has to offer. In class, we discussed some of Mr. Guerry's lessons. The students were then divided into groups and had to create a skit showing one danger of internet use and one way to avoid/solve a potentially dangerous situation. To watch our skits, click here. Discuss house rules regarding computer safety with your child. Include rules regarding personal devices (iPhones, iTouch, Kindle Fire, etc) as well as rules regarding the desktops and laptops in your home. 2. Discuss allusion with your child (click here for more info). Do you have family jokes to which you allude in your regular conversation? Jokes that no one outside of your family unit understands? |

I am constantly photographing the students as they complete their assignments and projects. My teaching philosophy stresses that learning is a process. I am always asking the students how or why, instead of just accepting an answer. I like to hear how each child uses reason and logic to solve simple or complex questions. I also focus on independent learning skills and self-advocacy. |
